53 (52) L’uomo senza Dio
1 Al maestro del coro. Su “Macalat”. Maskil. Di Davide.
2 Lo stolto pensa “Dio non esiste”. Sono corrotti, fanno cose abominevoli, nessuno fa il bene.
3 Dio dal cielo si china sui figli dell’uomo per vedere se c’è un uomo saggio che cerca Dio.
4 Tutti hanno traviato, tutti sono corrotti; nessuno fa il bene; neppure uno. 5 Non comprendono forse i malfattori che divorano il mio popolo come il pane e non invocano Dio?
6 Hanno tremato di spavento, là dove non c’era da temere. Dio ha disperso le ossa degli aggressori, sono confusi perché Dio li ha respinti.
7 Chi manderà da Sion la salvezza di Israele? Quando Dio farà tornare i deportati del suo popolo, esulterà Giacobbe, gioirà Israele.

2 The fool thinks “God does not exist”. They are corrupt, they do abominable things, nobody does good.
3 God from heaven bends over the children of man to see if there is a wise man who seeks God. 4 All have gone astray, all are corrupt; nobody does good; not even one. 5 Do they not understand the evildoers who devour my people like bread and do not call on God?
6 They trembled with fear, where there was nothing to fear. God has scattered the bones of the attackers, they are confused because God has rejected them.
7 Who will send the salvation of Israel out of Zion? When God brings back the deportees of his people, Jacob will rejoice, Israel will rejoice.
