12 (11) Contro il mondo menzognero
1 Al maestro del coro. Sull’ottava. Salmo. Di Davide.
2 Salvami, Signore! Non c’è più un uomo fedele;
è scomparsa la fedeltà tra i figli dell’uomo.
3 Si dicono menzogne l’uno all’altro,
labbra bugiarde parlano con cuore doppio.
4 Recida il Signore le labbra bugiarde,
la lingua che dice parole arroganti,
5 quanti dicono “Per la nostra lingua siamo forti,
ci difendiamo con le nostre labbra
chi sarà nostro padrone? ”.
6 “Per l’oppressione dei miseri e il gemito dei poveri,
io sorgerò – dice il Signore –
metterò in salvo chi è disprezzato”.
7 I detti del Signore sono puri,
argento raffinato nel crogiuolo,
purificato nel fuoco sette volte.
8 Tu, o Signore, ci custodirai,
ci guarderai da questa gente per sempre.
9 Mentre gli empi si aggirano intorno,
emergono i peggiori tra gli uomini.

1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
2 Everyone lies to their neighbor;
they flatter with their lips
but harbor deception in their hearts.
3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips
and every boastful tongue—
4 those who say,
“By our tongues we will prevail;
our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”
5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
I will now arise,” says the Lord.
“I will protect them from those who malign them.”
6 And the words of the Lord are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold[c] refined seven times.
7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
and will protect us forever from the wicked,
8 who freely strut about
when what is vile is honored by the human race.
Commento al filmato: le note struggenti dei tre Clavicembali in dialogo con l’Orchestra di questo “alla Siciliana” del Concerto in Re di Bach, di spettacolare bellezza, cantano con melodie ardenti il lamento del salmista oppresso dai nemici:

ma poi il lamento si tramuta in speranza e fiducia:
6 “Per l’oppressione dei miseri e il gemito dei poveri,
io sorgerò – dice il Signore –

ci guarderai da questa gente per sempre.

Commentary on the film: the poignant notes of the three harpsichords in dialogue with the orchestra of this spectacularly beautiful “Sicilian-style” Concerto in D by Bach, sing with ardent melodies the lament of the psalmist oppressed by his enemies:
2 Save me, Lord! There is no longer a faithful man; fidelity among the children of man has disappeared.
but then the lament turns into hope and trust:
6 “For the oppression of the poor and the groaning of the poor, I will rise – says the Lord – I will save those who are despised ”. ….. 8 You, O Lord, will keep us, you will guard us from these people forever.
