48 (47) Sion, monte di Dio
1 Cantico. Salmo. Dei figli di Core.
2 Grande è il Signore e degno di ogni lode nella città del nostro Dio. 3 Il suo monte santo, altura stupenda, è la gioia di tutta la terra. Il monte Sion, dimora divina, è la città del grande Sovrano.
4 Dio nei suoi baluardi è apparso fortezza inespugnabile. 5 Ecco, i re si sono alleati, sono avanzati insieme. 6 Essi hanno visto attoniti e presi dal panico, sono fuggiti.
7 Là sgomento li ha colti, doglie come di partoriente, 8 simile al vento orientale che squarcia le navi di Tarsis. 9 Come avevamo udito, così abbiamo visto nella città del Signore degli eserciti, nella città del nostro Dio; Dio l’ha fondata per sempre.
10 Ricordiamo, Dio, la tua misericordia dentro il tuo tempio.11 Come il tuo nome, o Dio, così la tua lode si estende sino ai confini della terra; è piena di giustizia la tua destra.
12 Gioisca il monte di Sion, esultino le città di Giuda a motivo dei tuoi giudizi. 13 Circondate Sion, giratele intorno, contate le sue torri.
14 Osservate i suoi baluardi, passate in rassegna le sue fortezze, per narrare alla generazione futura
15 Questo è il Signore, nostro Dio in eterno, sempre egli è colui che ci guida.

48 (47) Zion, the mountain of God
1 Canticle. Psalm. Of the sons of Kore
2 Great is the Lord and worthy of all praise in the city of our God. 3 His holy mountain, a stupendous hill, is the joy of the whole earth. Mount Zion, divine abode, is the city of the great Sovereign.
4 God in his bulwarks appeared to be an impregnable fortress. 5 Behold, the kings have allied themselves, they have advanced together. 6 They saw astonished and panicked, they fled.
7 There has overwhelmed them, pangs as of a woman in childbirth, 8 like the east wind that pierces the ships of Tarshish. 9 As we had heard, so we have seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God; God founded it forever.
10 Let us remember, God, your mercy within your temple. 11 As your name, O God, so your praise extends to the ends of the earth; your right hand is full of righteousness.
12 Let mount Zion rejoice, let the cities of Judah rejoice because of your judgments. 13 Surround Zion, go around her, count her towers.
14 Look at its bulwarks, search its fortresses, to tell the next generation 15 This is the Lord, our God forever, he is always the one who guides us.
