Contro i nemici di Israele
[1]Canto. Salmo. Di Asaf.
[2]Dio, non darti riposo,
non restare muto e inerte, o Dio.
[3]Vedi: i tuoi avversari fremono
e i tuoi nemici alzano la testa.
[4]Contro il tuo popolo ordiscono trame
e congiurano contro i tuoi protetti.
[5]Hanno detto: «Venite, cancelliamoli come popolo
e più non si ricordi il nome di Israele».
[6]Hanno tramato insieme concordi,
contro di te hanno concluso un’alleanza;
[7]le tende di Edom e gli Ismaeliti,
Moab e gli Agareni,
[8]Gebal, Ammon e Amalek
la Palestina con gli abitanti di Tiro.
[9]Anche Assur è loro alleato
e ai figli di Lot presta man forte.
[10]Trattali come Madian e Sisara,
come Iabin al torrente di Kison:
[11]essi furono distrutti a Endor,
diventarono concime per la terra.
[12]Rendi i loro principi come Oreb e Zeb,
e come Zebee e Sàlmana tutti i loro capi;
[13]essi dicevano:
«I pascoli di Dio conquistiamoli per noi».
[14]Mio Dio, rendili come turbine,
come pula dispersa dal vento.
[15]Come il fuoco che brucia il bosco
e come la fiamma che divora i monti,
[16]così tu inseguili con la tua bufera
e sconvolgili con il tuo uragano.
[17]Copri di vergogna i loro volti
perché cerchino il tuo nome, Signore.
[18]Restino confusi e turbati per sempre,
siano umiliati, periscano;
[19]sappiano che tu hai nome «Signore»,
tu solo sei l’Altissimo su tutta la terra.

A song. A psalm of Asaph.
1 O God, do not remain silent;
do not turn a deaf ear,
do not stand aloof, O God.
2 See how your enemies growl,
how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people;
they plot against those you cherish.
4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation,
so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”
5 With one mind they plot together;
they form an alliance against you—
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Byblos, Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them
to reinforce Lot’s descendants.b]
9 Do to them as you did to Midian,
as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
10 who perished at Endor
and became like dung on the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 who said, “Let us take possession
of the pasturelands of God.”
13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God,
like chaff before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest
or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
15 so pursue them with your tempest
and terrify them with your storm.
16 Cover their faces with shame, Lord,
so that they will seek your name.
17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;
may they perish in disgrace.
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord—
that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.
Commento al filmato: Questa supplica ardente a Dio del Salmista, è cantata dalle note veementi del Fagotto solista accompagnato dalle armonie appassionate dell’Orchestra nello splendente “Allegro poco” del Concerto in Mi min di Vivaldi:

dal versetto 12 la supplica del salmista si fa fiduciosa e il brano finale “Allegro” del Concerto di Vivaldi, si sviluppa nel canto gioioso dell’Oboe solista:
[18]Restino confusi e turbati per sempre, siano umiliati, periscano; [19]sappiano che tu hai nome «Signore», tu solo sei l’Altissimo su tutta la terra.

Commentary on the film: This ardent supplication of the Psalmist to God is sung by the vehement notes of the solo Bassoon accompanied by the passionate harmonies of the Orchestra in the resplendent “Allegro poco” of the Concerto in E min by Vivaldi:
[2] God, do not give yourself rest, do not remain silent and inert, O God. [3] See: your adversaries tremble and your enemies lift their heads. [4] They plot plots against your people and conspire against your proteges. [5] They said: “Come, let us erase them as a people and no longer remember the name of Israel”.
from verse 12 the psalmist’s supplication becomes confident and the final piece “Allegro” of Vivaldi’s Concerto develops into the joyful song of the solo Oboe:
[18] Let them be confused and troubled forever, be humiliated, perish; [19] let them know that you have the name “Lord”, you alone are the Most High over all the earth.
